Some of City Center Waco’s most visible and immediate endeavors are carried out through the office’s management of the Public Improvement District.
Public Improvement District 1, in the very core of downtown, has its own budget and is governed by a board of downtown property owners. The PID funds projects that are intended to bring more people downtown. Those projects include the marketing of downtown and efforts to keep downtown clean and safe.
City Center Waco administrates PID meetings, keeps the budget and carries out the PID’s desires and plans. PID work that City Center Waco powers includes running a Downtown Waco website and social media, removing graffiti, staying on top of landscaping and maintenance, keeping an eye on safety issues and answering the questions of visitors, as needed.
PID projects are a large part of what keeps City Center Waco staff busy on a daily basis.
